Dear Parents and Carers, I am writing to update you with regard to progress of our new school. As explained in our previous update, the contractors have informed us that they are confident the school will be ready for our opening on Wednesday 7th September. However, a number of areas still need to be completed. The overwhelming majority of these areas are not urgent and will not affect opening as planned on Wednesday. These non-urgent areas will be finished in the evenings or next weekend. However, there are a very small number of areas which are not yet complete, and which could prevent the school opening. The contractor has allocated considerable resources to these areas in order to get them completed on time. We will meet with contractors again at the end of today (Monday 5th September) to see which areas are completed and to discuss timescales for other areas. At that point we will take a decision as to whether the school can be opened on Wednesday. We will send a text message to let you know what is happening, and place a longer update on the website. We would like to reassure you that if we are not in a position to open on Wednesday, we have prepared a contingency plan for all children, which may involve being taught on one of our other Federation sites. We very much hope that this will not be necessary, but think it is right to forewarn you of this possibility. We remain committed to opening on Wednesday, and school staff are working hard to ensure the classrooms and all other areas of the building are clean, safe and comfortable for your children. We regret that we will not have time to prepare the stimulating learning environment in the classrooms and around the school that Paxton usually prides itself on. However, staff will work hard to develop this as quickly as possible. We look forward to being able to update you further at the end of the day. Best wishes, Sarah Drew Susan Holt Headteacher Executive Headteacher
