  • Welcome to Goshawk Class - Elm Wood Primary

January 2018: In Goshawk class, we have been learning all about The Great Fire of London. Did you know that Sir Christopher Wren rebuilt 52 churches after The Great Fire in 1666? We found out lots of interesting facts using the Ipads! We have also been building on our SPaG and have been learning all about Subordinating conjunctions. We used this knowledge when we wrote a report on The Great Fire of London. In R.E, we learnt all about Islam and the different things Muslims practice in their daily lives. We learnt that they use prayer mats to pray on and designed our very own. 20 October 2017: Goshawk class have been learning all about Great Britain. We have been looking at landmarks in London and asking lots of questions about these landmarks. We then used Ipads to research our own questions... Did you know that Big Ben is the name of the bell inside the tower, not the tower or clock itself?  We also have had the chance to learn about famous British people and the different kinds of foods there are all over Great Britain. September 2017:  Goshawk class have made a productive start to the year. In Maths, we have learnt about the value of number, including 10 more and 10 less as well as greater than and less than. We have also built our knowledge on partitioning numbers and solving number sentences in a variety of ways. In our first topic, ‘The Shopping Basket’ we have been learning about using commas in a list, including noun phrases in our writing and we have developed our confidence by retelling the story through drama. Please come to our first class assembly on Wednesday 8th November at 10.30am. Looking  forward to seeing you there!
